Discover A New Career with Medical Billing and Coding Training In NY

Are you looking for a new career?  Maybe you’d like a better paycheck, or the option to work from home?  If so, you might want to think about medical billing and coding training in NY!

Medical billing and coding is an excellent way to get your foot in the door in the medical industry because it requires no actual medical training or experience.  This is a purely administrative job.  Better yet, training and certification are relatively inexpensive (especially compared to medical school) and can usually be completed in just a year or two!

What Is Medical Billing And Coding?

Pretty much what it sounds like:  your primary job would be taking patient records and entering them into computer systems for billing and insurance purposes.  In addition, you may sometimes be a point of contact if a patient needs to have their bill explained to them.

Most of the skills you need, such as learning the terminology, will be covered in your medical billing and coding training courses.  You’ll also need some people skills when you act as a support rep.  A high degree of professional ethics is also required.

Why Become A Medical Biller And Coder?

1 – Work from home

While some operations may still keep coders in-house, this is a job that’s increasingly moving towards a remote workforce.  You’ll have to maintain some strict security standards if you’re working on a home network, but otherwise, this could be an excellent at-home job.

2 – Keep learning new skills

The entire administrative side of medicine is wide open and often overlooked by people who are interested in getting into the medical field.  If you start as a coder but look to increase your certifications as you go, you could easily move into more important and profitable administrative positions.

3 – Rapid, affordable training

The exact amount of time it’ll take for your certification largely depends on how much time you can devote to it.  Typically, it’s around 1-2 years – which is much faster than other medical certifications.  Also, courses are usually only a few thousand dollars, which is quite affordable.

4 – Continuing demand

Demand for medical coders is only growing, and that’s unlikely to change in the foreseeable future.  This could be your entry point into a career that lasts for decades.
