The Westchester School for Medical and Dental Assistants offers a comprehensive Medical Assistant Program, designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to become successful medical assistants. We are accredited by ACCET (Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training) and licensed by NYSED (New York State Education Department). Graduates of the program can become a Nationally Certified Medical Assistants by taking the CCMA given by NHA (National Healthcare Association) available through www.nhanow.com. Certification exams are not mandatory for graduation from Westchester School for Medical and Dental Assistants or for employment in New York State. Sitting for these exams is optional and on a voluntarily basis. For more information on these exams please contact our Placement Dept.
The program combines classroom instruction and hands-on experience, giving students the opportunity to gain a broad understanding of medical assisting within 30 weeks (day) classes and 57 weeks (evening/weekends). Students learn the fundamentals of medical assisting, including medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, computer applications, and clinical procedures. The program also provides students with practical experience through externships in medical offices, giving them the chance to put their knowledge into practice and build relationships with medical professionals.Â

Our externship program allows our students to gain practical experience so that they might be better informed about what to expect in an actual medical facility.
Our team offers an exciting 900-hour program, split 70% in-class (630 hours) and 30% in a work environment (270 hours) via externship.
